Services: consulting, web and database design and implementation

For projects with a clearly defined scope, we can provide you with an estimate. For other work, we charge on an hourly basis: €50/hour for work done in our offices, and €75/hour for onsite work, within the Brussels area. For projects outside Brussels which require a physical presence, please contact us.

Private Cloud and Email Virtual Machines

Pricing depends on how the virtual machines are hosted. All prices listed here are exclusive of VAT or other applicable taxes.

In our datacenters

We run your virtual machine with up to 100G disk space on our servers in a datacenter in a European country, usually France, for €100/month with a warm backup in another datacenter at least 100km distant for €50/month. The one-time initial setup cost for a server is €300, and the one-time initial setup cost for a warm backup server is €150. It will have an Internet hostname like cloudmail.yourdomain.eu and your email addresses will look like firstname.lastname@yourdomain.eu.

In your office

We will run a physical server in your office for €100/month, plus €10/month per running virtual machine. A full daily backup (up to 100 GB total) to our offices costs €50/month, and warm failover services an additional €25/month. The one-time initial setup cost for a physical server is €600, and the one-time initial setup cost for a warm backup server is €300. It will have an Internet hostname like office.yourdomain.eu and your email addresses will look like firstname.lastname@yourdomain.eu.

Server hardware

To efficiently run virtualisation, rapid disk access is essential. This used to require expensive and complex RAID arrays, but now Solid State Disks (SSD) are even faster, and much more affordable. Spinning magnetic disks offer large volumes of data at low cost. Using high-end desktop components with careful attention to keeping power consumption low, Words and Wires builds local servers designed for the size of your office.

Basic virtualisation physical host server

For an organisation with around 15 users, we can supply a physical server with a low power consumption Intel Core i5-3470S with 16GB RAM, a 30GB boot SSD, a 240GB SSD to run your virtual servers, and a 2TB hard disk for mirror copies of your virtual machines, and historical backups of at least 10 weeks, with two Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces. Cost: €995 excluding tax and installation.

Medium-power virtualisation physical host server

For up to around 50 users, we can supply a physical server with a low power consumption Intel Core i5-3470S with 32GB RAM, a 30GB boot SSD, two 240GB SSDs to run your virtual servers, and two 2TB hard disk for mirror copies of your virtual machines, and historical backups of at least 20 weeks, with two Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces. Cost: €1495 excluding tax and installation.
